Langley grow op goes up in smoke

A legal marijuana grow operation caught fire in a rural home in south Langley on Saturday.

A licensed marijuana grow op went up in smoke inside a rural home in south Langley on Saturday morning.

Around 1 a.m., Township firefighters were called to the fire in the 21000 block of 216 Street. Heavy smoke was showing through the roof of the larger, older home. Three fire halls were brought in including water tankers because there are no hydrants in that area, said assistant fire chief Bruce Ferguson.

Two people and their dog who are believed to be living in the home were not injured in the blaze.

The fire doesn't appear suspicious. The blaze was fairly easy to knock down, said Ferguson.
