Langley hosts public skate to honour emergency responders

The Langley Events Centre will be hosting a public skate Monday in honor of the local RCMP officers, fire department crews, and special guests from the BC Ambulance Service.

The We Salute You – Local Heroes Night skate is 6:30-8 p.m. with all proceeds from the event being donated to KidSport Langley.

There will be fun activities to take in both on and off the ice as four service vehicles will be set up on the ice along with a photo section off the ice, where guests can take pictures wearing the local heroes work gear.

The four vehicles on the ice will include a public education fire truck, a RCMP cruiser, an ambulance, and an antique 1951 Chevy Ambulance. People are welcome to take photos with the vehicles.

This event is not only meant for local heroes from Langley to attend, but RCMP, firefighters and ambulance workers from around the Lower Mainland can take part.

Any local hero who shows his or her credentials or badge will be given free admission to the event.

Entering through Gate 1, regular admission for the event will be $3 for adults (19 and older) and $2 for children under 18.

Skate rentals are $3 and helmet rentals are $1. All participants 12 years and under must wear an approved CSA helmet.
