Langley man dies following crash

A Langley man has died after a motorcycle crash in Maple Ridge last month.

A 45-year-old Langley man, who was a member of the Surrey Fire Department, died on Tuesday, June 2 from injuries he suffered from a crash on the Haney By-Pass and 227th Street.

This is the sixth fatal collision in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows in 2015, with motorcycles being involved in two of the crashes.

The man was riding a motorcycle travelling west along the Haney By-Pass at 1:45 p.m. on May 20, when he collided with an eastbound Cadillac SUV while its driver was making a turn onto 227th Street.

He was airlifted to hospital by the B.C. Ambulance Services, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening at the time.

“Ridge Meadows RCMP have just been informed of the death of the motorcyclist,” Const. Amanda Harnett said.   “Our thoughts go out to the man’s family and friends who are mourning his passing.”

Harnett said this incident is being thoroughly investigated by Ridge Meadows RCMP, and the B.C. Coroner’s office.

The investigation into this crash is continuing.
