Langley mayoral election forum coming

Another mayoral debate has been scheduled for the weekend before Langley Township residents go to the polls.

Organized by former school trustee Sonya Paterson, the event will be held at Murrayville Hall on Nov. 9 from 2-4 p.m.

Paterson said she wanted to get more people to engage in the process to increase the rate of voter participation, which has ranged from 20 to 25 per cent in the last several local elections.

“Many citizens feel they have not had enough opportunity to meet [and] personally question the Township mayoral candidates, and so this is an effort to fill that need,” Paterson said.

Rick Green and Serena Oh have agreed to attend, but incumbent Jack Froese has other commitments, said Paterson.

The event will be held at Murrayville Hall, 21667 48th Ave., with doors opening at 1:30 p.m.
