Shortreed Elementary is looking for the community to show it some love.
That love comes in the form of books as part of the online Adopt A School project by the Indigo Foundation.
The school is second place in B.C. for garnering support and the campaign goes another 17 days, until the first weekend of October. If the school comes in first, it means $10,000 for the school to buy, what else – books – from the charity efforts of the book retailer Indigo.
The school is the only one in Langley that’s part of this year’s campaign.
“At Shortreed we LOVE reading! We are an inner city school of avid readers who read so much our books are wearing out. As a school we simply do not have the funds to update and shelf our library with relevant and interesting books. Reading has been a goal at our school for the past several years and it’s working! Now we need more books so our students can keep on reading,†the online description reads.
