The union local for Langley teachers has organized three events for this week, including rallies outside the local MLAs’ offices.
The Langley Teachers’ Association has Burma-shave style protests planned for July 15 on 200th Street at the pedestrian overpass. They are slated for rush hour: 7-9:30 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m.
Then on July 16, the LTA is hosting a public forum at the Langley Golf and Banquet Centre. The reception is 6-7 p.m. and a panel of speakers starting at 7 p.m.
The LTA has invited Teri Mooring of the BC Teachers Federation; Irene Lanzinger, BC Federation of Labour; Iglika Ivanova, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, Fort Langley-Aldergrove MLA Rich Coleman, Langley MLA Mary Polak, Township Mayor Jack Froese, City Acting Mayor Ted Schaffer, and Langley School Board chair Wendy Johnson.
The event is at 21550 44th Ave.
The LTA has scheduled rallies for the two local MLA offices. The rally at Polak’s office, 20611 Fraser Hwy., is 11 a.m. to noon on July 17. At same day there’s a rally at Coleman’s office in the Langley Events centre. It runs 12:30-1:30 p.m.
