Langley Township greenlights six storey condo

Township council briefs: from the Sept. 14 council meeting.

Langley Township council approved the third reading to allow the construction of four five- and six-storey condos along with three-storey townhouses in Willoughby.

The development, dubbed A Poet’s Wynd, is to be built on the southeast corner of 208th Street and 80th Avenue.

Several neighbours objected to the height of the structure at a public hearing earlier this summer.

A fourth and final reading is still required for the project.

New shops

Council also voted in favour of a new section of commercial buildings in the Willoughby Town Centre, just off 208th Street.

The new buildings will include shops and likely a daycare business.

Adjournment

A subdivision for a property in the 9000 block of Church Street in Fort Langley was put off for at least two weeks after a neighbour raised worries about her driveway.

The property is owned by the Township and is being divided to create two lots and houses, and lies up against another property with a 90-year-old home. The older home’s driveway runs right along the edge of the property line, and the owner asked for clarification on how close anything new could be built to the existing driveway.

The next Township council meeting will be held on Sept. 28, 2015.
