Litter on the sidewalk, a couch on the roadside, bags of trash in the ditch. We’ve all seen illegal dumping in the Township.
Illegal dumping and litter costs taxpayers over $400,000 a year. The Township is taking steps to prevent illegal dumping and offenders can be fined $500 plus the cost of cleanup.

Strategy
In April 2015, the Township Council approved the Litter and Illegal Waste Management Strategy. The Strategy was developed with input from the public and is based on three fundamental pillars: education, infrastructure, and enforcement. This Strategy is guiding the Township’s efforts to combat litter and illegal dumping.
How you can help:
• Adopt-a-Program
Want to help cleanup in our community? Join over 2,000 volunteers in 300+ groups that commit to cleaning up litter in our streets, parks, creeks, and trails.
• Report Illegal Dumping
The Township needs your help to find and identify illegal dumping sites and offenders. Choose a reporting option that works for you:
Submit a “Report a Problem” form online. Select “Public Works” and “Illegal Garbage Dumped”; or
Call the reporting hotline at 1-844-SEE-DUMP (733-3867)
Residential Disposal Options:
Residents have many options for proper waste disposal.
Recycling
The Township offers recycling collection to all residential properties. Local depots also accept many other items for recycling, such as electronics, appliances, paint, tires, and more, most free-of charge.
Garbage and Organics Collection
The Township offers garbage and organics collection to properties within designated collection zones. This service includes the pick-up of four large items each year. To request large item pickup, contact Sierra Waste at 604-530-3939.
Rural Properties
Residents that do not receive garbage and organics collection service from the Township can hire a private hauler or self-haul their waste to a local transfer station.
Backyard Composting
Residents can compost their food scraps and soiled paper at home by purchasing a backyard composter at a subsidized rate of $25.
Hazardous Waste
Residents can bring hazardous waste to the annual Household Hazardous Waste Event free-of charge.

The Township does not offer waste collection service for commercial properties. Bring your waste to a local transfer station or hire a private hauler.
