Langley Township is seeking nominations for a Brookswood-Fernridge Community Planning team.

Following the failure of the previous Brookswood-Fernridge Official Community Plan in 2014, the Township is trying a new method.

The Township has currently divided the area into “developed” and “undeveloped” areas.

An 18-month public engagement process will begin along with a new round of neighbourhood planning. The Community Planning Team will be in place throughout the process, according to Township staff.

“We want to be sure the public is involved right from the start, every step of the way, as decisions are being made,” said Mayor Jack Froese in a statement.

There will be 17 members of the team including at least 10 who live in Brookswood-Fernridge, including:

• Six persons owning property and/or residing within the undeveloped areas;

• Two persons owning property and/or residing within the developed areas;

• One person residing in a manufactured home park within the Community Plan boundary, as shown on the map;

• Two persons owning property and/or residing within the rural area surrounding the Community Plan boundary:

• Two persons owning a business within the Community Plan boundary (or representatives from the Brookswood Village Merchants Association);

• One person representing local seniors (Brookswood Seniors Citizens Centre);

• One person representing a Parent Advisory Council member (Local School);

• One person representing a local non-profit environmental organization; and

• One person representing the development (Urban Development Institute) and/or building (Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association) industry.

Application forms are at tol.ca/brfrcpt, and on paper from the Township’s Civic Facility and the George Preston Recreation Centre. Forms must be submitted to the Township’s Legislative Services Department by mail, fax, at legservicesinfo@tol.ca, or in person at the Customer Service Counter.

The deadline for submissions is May 1.
