Glossy, full colour leaflets arrived in Langley mailboxes this week listing the benefits of the oil and gas industry and seeking public support.

The leaflets are from Canada’s Energy Citizens and has the tagline “Supporting local goes way beyond the farmers’ market.”

It lists the July 26 town hall meeting in Abbotsford and the July 27 and 28 ones in Langley, encouraging people to attend and show support for the Trans Mountain pipeline.

“Right now the federal panel responsible for consulting on the Trans Mountain pipeline – and reporting back to Ottawa on whether Canadians support the project – is holding public town halls,” the leaflet says.

It asks the public to go to bcfortransmountain.ca and also gives the website energycitizens.ca.

The websites are by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.

The public is asked to voice support for the petroleum industry, and offers membership in Energy Citizens, and social media connections.
