Lockdown lifted at Langley Fine Arts Elementary

The Fort Langley school was put in Code Yellow after gunfire was heard outside on Thursday. It was a truck being unloaded nearby.

Filming in Fort Langley was first thought to be the reason for a Code Yellow lockdown at Langley Fine Arts Elementary on Thursday morning.

The school was locked down around 10:15 a.m. after sounds that resembled gun shots outside the school, said Langley School District spokesperson Ken Hoff.

The RCMP were called and investigated.

"The RCMP were able to attribute the gunfire to a film crew nearby," said Hoff.

But upon further investigation, it is believed the sounds were coming from a very large truck unloading.

The lockdown was lifted right after. Film crews said none of their scenes today involved gunfire.

A letter will be sent home with students about what took place, said Hoff.
