The main entrance to Langley Memorial Hospital was cordoned off with police tape Wednesday evening, and numerous emergency responders who were called to help a man threatening to take his own life.
Around 6 p.m., Langley Township fire department was called to assist police with the situation.
Emergency responders were able to talk the man down, said deputy fire chief Russ Jenkins. It’s believed he was a patient in the psychiatric ward.
The hospital remained open and people were allowed to come and go through different entrances of the building. The main entrance was re-opened by 8 p.m.
The psych ward at Langley Memorial Hospital has been running at capacity for some time, said a Fraser Health representative a few months ago.
