A Maple Ridge man is now facing a second-degree murder charge in connection to the death of 41-year-old Arthur Comeau in April of 2022.
The incident occurred on April 28, when Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to the 12300-block of Carlton Street to investigate reports of multiple shots being fired.
Upon arrival, Comeau was found injured with several gunshot wounds, which he succumbed to on scene despite officers providing life-saving efforts.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation and were able to identify 31-year-old Justin Wareing as the primary suspect.
On June 8, 2023, a second-degree murder charge was officially laid against Wareing, with the case now going before the courts.
IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti called this charge a cooperative effort, praising the efforts of the Ridge Meadows RCMP and other RCMP teams.
“We’re thankful for the support we receive every day from all of the integrated teams,” said Pierotti.
