Parked Smart car smashed in hit-and-run

Police believe vehicle that struck car on Murrayville street was a Ford Explorer or Ranger

A Langley resident woke to find his Smart car smashed and no longer parked where he left it the night before in Murrayville.

Now police are looking for more information on the hit-and-run.

On March 23, the Smart car owner awoke to find his vehicle had been hit sometime overnight while parked on the street in the 4500 block of 221A Street.

The car had been parallel parked, facing north and was found in a driveway, facing south. The back driver side of the vehicle had been smashed and the rear window was shattered.

The car owner’s wife heard a loud bang around 2 a.m., but didn’t check out the cause of the noise at that time.

Debris found on the street suggests the offending vehicle may have been a Ford Explorer or a Ford Ranger pickup.

It is possible the vehicle either had a lift kit or a bush bumper.  It may be the vehicle may have been used for off-roading, as there was a significant amount of mud found on the street amidst the debris, said Langley RCMP. If you have information call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
