A 31-year-old Langley man had to be airlifted to hospital for what appeared to be life threatening injuries after being hit by pickup truck while crossing the road in Aldergrove last Saturday.
Langley RCMP was called to a pedestrian struck in the 1800 block of 264 Street at around 4:30 p.m.
Thus far, the investigation suggests that a southbound Ford pickup struck the man as he ran across the road. The explanation for suddenly running across the road remains unknown, said police spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks. Police believe the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The pickup truck was towed from the scene and will ºundergo a mechanical inspection.
The pedestrian was released from hospital on Tuesday and returned home to convalesce.
ICARS (Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service), which investigates all vehicle collisions that result in serious injury or death in the RCMP detachment areas within the Lower Mainland District, was called to attend and assist with the investigation.
