People line up again for a chance to buy a home in Langley

Another example of the hot real estate market popped up in Willoughby again last weekend.

Despite Saturday's downpour, dozens of people lined up for a chance at buying a townhome in the Woodland Park development at 86 Ave. and 204 Street.

The sales team handling this development organized it to be a raffle for a place in line to get first dibs on the townhomes which started at around $350,000. Otherwise people would have camped out again, like the tent city that erected outside the Yorkson condo development last month on 208 St. and 82 St.

On the Woodlands Facebook Page, it reads: Due to the unprecedented demand at the Woodland Park grand opening yesterday (May 28), Phase 1 -1V have sold out.

Townhome prices in Langley have gone up nearly 30 per cent since last year. The luxury condos that sold at Yorkson went for the high $300,000. Single family homes in Langley are selling at unprecedented prices, many near $1 million.

Meanwhile, Township council just came out with a report to say that Willoughby is only half built out. It is the most densely populated area of Langley with the school district looking to change catchment boundaries to address overcrowding at Willoughby schools. The school district has been asking for the provincial government to approve a new high school for Willoughby. Currently, Mountain Secondary has 16 portables.
