Langley RCMP have released new information on a hit and run that killed a Brookswood man on Dec. 20, 2015.
Daniel McAuley, 44, was found deceased in the 2900 block of 200th Street at about 2:30 a.m., said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.
Police now believe that the car that struck McAuley that morning was a red 2007-2011 Toyota Camry, based on parts left at the scene.
The vehicle had previously been thought to be grey, but new information suggests a red car, Largy said.
Footage from a traffic camera at 192nd Street and 16th Avenue, taken about 15 minutes before the fatal collision, shows a red vehicle.
The vehicle may have had front end damage.
Largy said McAuley’s family is hoping for the closure of identifying the driver.
Police are asking that people look at the photos of the suspect vehicle and think back to the time around Christmas.
“Do you have a friend who lost use of his vehicle for a couple days prior to Christmas?” Largy said in a statement. “Did you notice some front end damage on a red Toyota Camry parked in your neighbourhood? Were you driving in the area that night, and recall seeing such a vehicle, or perhaps you know someone who was visiting in the area that night that drove this type of vehicle?”
