The man accused of trying to kill his family in a Langley arson fire will remain in custody while awaiting his next court appearance.
Andre Richard appeared in Surrey Provincial Court Monday morning.
He consented to be remanded in custody, according to the Langley RCMP.
Because he has not yet argued that he should be released on bail, a judge will periodically ask Richard if he wishes to attempt to apply for bail.
His next chance, and his next court appearance, will be on May 27th.
Richard is charged with attempted murder for allegedly attacking the home of his wife and two children. His estranged wife Sonia Cella and her daughter were injured in the attack, and along with Cella’s son, they escaped after the house was set on fire in the early hours of April 2.
Friends have set up a fund to aid the Cellas after they were burned out of their Langley Meadows home.
The Cella Family Trust Fund at the Langley CIBC branch 720 will be open for a few more days. The account number is 46-86632. Cash or cheques can be brought in person, or mailed. Cheques need to be made out to the Cella Family Trust.
