Seismic upgrade planned at Langley Secondary

An upgrade at the 56 Avenue school, one of the oldest in the district, will begin in 2014.

Langley Secondary will be getting a seismic upgrade, starting in 2014.

A letter from the Ministry of Education, dated April 9, said LSS has been chosen as one of 45 schools to be upgraded, at a cost of $584 million.

It is considered a “high risk” school that would not withstand a large earthquake.

The original buildings at LSS were built about 60 years ago. It is one of the oldest schools in the Langley district.
