Two men rammed the doors to The Bay in Langley in a smash-and-grab heist that police say netted them more than $200,000 in jewelry on April 7.
Security footage shows a newer black Toyota pickup pulling up to the doors at The Bay in the Willowbrook Shopping Centre in the early hours of the morning, said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.
The thieves positioned a long plank or post in the back and rammed the doors with the plank to smash their way in.
The two men then used a pry bar to smash display cases and scooped up jewelry. One man used the crowbar while the other scooped up items.
Police were alerted by alarms but arrived to find the suspects gone and the display cases looted.
Two days later, on the morning of April 9, a similar break in took place at The Bay on Barnet Highway in Coquitlam.
Footage again showed two men breaking in and heading directly the jewelry department.
They used a crowbar to smash a number of showcases and stole many pieces of jewelry before fleeing in a black pickup truck.
There is likely significant damage to the rear of the truck, said Largy.
The first suspect in the case is about 5’10†with a medium build. He was wearing a grey hoodie and sweat pants, a pair of gloves, and white shoes.
The second man is also about 5’10†with a medium build. He was wearing a mask, a black hoodie and beige jacket, and jeans.
