UPDATED: RCMP investigating fatal Langley crash

The Langley RCMP is investigating the community’s third fatal crash of 2014 after an SUV slammed into a parked trailer in the Gloucester Industrial Estates early Sunday morning.

The crash took place at about 1:30 a.m. in the 26900 block of Gloucester Way, said Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Langley Mounties.

An SUV was heading west down the road when it crossed the center line and crashed into a parked flatdeck trailer.

When police and emergency crews arrived, the driver was deceased, Marks said.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was called in to help with the investigation, and speed is thought to have been a factor in the crash, Marks said.

A mechanical inspection of the vehicle will be conducted as part of the investigation. The victim is a 23-year-old man from Surrey. His family has asked that his name not be released.

The RCMP are looking for a truck driver who may have witnessed the accident and left without talking to police.

The possible witness is an Indo-Canadian man who was driving a semi-truck with a trailer. Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to the RCMP should call them at 604-532-3200.
