Vandals have marked up one of Langley’s newest nature walks.

Nora Truman walks in the Derek Doubleday arboretum park every morning with her dog.

“Yesterday, two of the concrete pads for the benches were spray painted, donor plaques were graffiti-ed, a tree was spray painted,” she said.

On Thursday, more graffiti was evident at the park. A war memorial plaque had also been hit.

Truman is worried further vandalism will occur. She’s called the RCMP to let them know and the Township has also been made aware. The Township said it will clean up the graffitti and have spoken with the RCMP about it.

There haven’t been a lot of calls about graffitti in the area, according to the Township.

As part of Arbour Day celebrations last month, trees were planted to honour members of the community who passed away during the past year. There is a fountain, garden, bridge and pathway as well as the A Walk to Remember path, a memorial to Canada’s soldiers.

“It’s really nice to go there. More and more people are coming to enjoy this park,” she said.
