About a dozen volunteers armed with grabbers and large plastic garbage bags went hunting for litter in Fort Langley on Saturday.

The Earth Day event was the first community clean-up organized by the Acts of Kindness group co-founded by Langley resident Augustino Duminuco and Rachelle Seidel of Aldergrove.

Both described the initiative as a bid to make a better environment.

“If something is not clean, you don’t feel happy,” Seidel said.

“I cannot stand litter,” Duminuco said.

Seidel said the volunteers filled nine bags in about four hours, two from just one street alone.

Acts of Kindness launched late last year by organizing assistance for homeless people, distributing food, blankets and clothing in various Lower Mainland communities including Langley.
