A two vehicle crash in Langley Sunday afternoon closed the Fraser Highway and sent several people to hospital.

Langley Mounties are investigating what’s being called “a serious collision” at the intersection of 244th Street and Fraser Highway just before 4 p.m., said Cpl. Craig van Herk.

Early investigation suggests that a Ford Fusion was southbound on 244th Street when it collided with a westbound Chevrolet Suburban, van Herk said.

“However, the cause and contributing factors have yet to be determined.”

The driver of the Fusion sustained “significant injuries” and was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

The driver and passengers of the Suburban sustained minor injuries and were taken to area hospital as a precautionary measure, van Herk elaborated.

The intersection of Fraser Highway and 244 Street was closed for several hours as the Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and Langley RCMP traffic section examined the crash scene.

Police are now asking for the public’s help.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, and has not yet spoken to police, is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
