Anita Doreen Waska (nee Smith)

December 28, 2017

Mar 23, 1939 - Dec 28, 2017
Anita Doreen Waska (nee Smith), passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 23, 1939 in Neepawa, Manitoba, and spent her early years farming with her family, before moving to B.C. Many stories were told of those cold prairie winters.

She married and moved to Fort Langley to raise her family. We have many fond memories of her working at the Waska general store, then as Postmaster at Canada Post, until her retirement. She was a social butterfly, and loved music, dancing and travel. She played the organ at church every Sunday for many years.

She was known to many as "Friendly Owl" at Brownies with her daughters. She took many trips and cruises and enjoyed telling us about her excursions. She was predeceased by her husband, Mike Waska, and her sister Myrna Johnston.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her 3 children, Rick, Lynn, Sandy (Mark), and her 3 grandsons that she took great pride in: Dustin (Candice), Travis, and Carson.

She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Gavin, Nolan, and Lyrah, her sister Carol, and her close friend Bernie, along with many other friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Memorial service will be held on January 5, 2017 at 1 pm at St. Andrew's United Church in Fort Langley.
