It is with great sorrow that we wish to announce the passing of Donna Holgate (Johnston) on Thursday, February 21, 2018. She was pre-deceased by her parents Nicholas (Roy) and Florence Johnston, her brother, Lawrie Johnston and her true love and husband of 55 years Ray Holgate (passed away October 2011). Surviving is her brother Lyle (Joan) Johnston, her sons, Mike (Jill) Holgate and Ken Holgate (Erin) and daughter Sharon (Gerhard) Griep, 7 grandchildren (Aleisha, Kellie (Travis), Janelle (Ryan), Madison, Marcus, Stephanie and Alex) and 1 great grandchild (Natalie). Also many nieces and nephews.
Donna was the quiet matriarch of the Holgate family. She ran the household but also kept the books for the several businesses they owned. She was very involved in the churches she belonged to by being the secretary/treasurer or greeter or working alongside whatever Ray volunteered for. She loved her garden and her family and often her way of showing her family how much she loved them was to grow vegetables, can/pickle or bake for them.
There is going to be a Celebration of Life for Donna on Friday, March 8th at 10:30 am at Cloverdale Baptist Church 18685 64th Avenue, Surrey BC, with a light lunch to follow to have time to mingle.
