EDWARDS, Edward George April 17, 1945 – May 18, 2009. Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with prostate cancer at the age of 64, surrounded by his loving family on May 18, 2009.
George was born in Tripoli, Libya and spent his childhood growing up in North Africa, Italy, England and Nigeria before returning to England to pursue his education as a Professional Engineer. In 1980, he immigrated to British Columbia, Canada with his young family. George never lost his interest in travel and enjoyed working abroad for much of his career including the Philippines, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Russia, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Eritrea, Sakhalin and his home away from home Baku, Azerbaijan.
Predeceased by his father Leonard, George will be sadly missed by his wife Maggie, daughter Anne (Grzegorz), son Robert (Jennifer), mother Cecilia, brother Dennis (Natasha) and young grandchildren Cailey and Dominik. He was dedicated, hardworking and was loved by many.
A heartfelt thanks to the health care professionals involved in his treatment and care over the last year and to his friends for their genuine support and compassion.
All are welcome to attend a memorial service on Friday, May 22nd at 2:30 pm at St. Dunstan’s Anglican Church 3025 264th Street, Aldergrove, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George’s memory to Prostate Cancer Foundation BC or the Langley Hospice Society.
