BERRY, Frances (Rutherford)

December 25, 1927 - January 18, 2010

The family is sad to announce that Fran passed away January 18th at Langley Memorial Hospital after recent failing health. Predeceased by parents Robena and Andrew Rutherford and husband Gordon (Chub) Berry, Fran is lovingly remembered by daughters Leanne and Sharon, brothers Phil and Perry Rutherford and their families, and by her large extended family. Born in Brandon, Manitoba Fran spent her childhood in Saskatchewan and BC, attended high school in Langley and Cloverdale then moved to Vancouver to enroll in business school before working for the BC Telephone Co. In 1951 she married and settled on the Berry farm in Langley where she played an integral role. Fran loved to dance, sing in the choir, read, paint, work crossword puzzles and travel. She especially enjoyed time spent with friends over a meal, coffee or glass of wine. She and Chub were actively involved in many aspects of the community, and in later life they very much enjoyed travelling and meeting friends old and new. A great friend to all who knew her, known for her kind and generous spirit, loyalty and grace, Fran will be greatly missed by her family and wide circle of friends from Sharon United Church, the Langley Seniors' Centre, the thoroughbred racing community, and the community at large. A service to celebrate Fran's life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Sharon United Church, 21562 Old Yale Road, Langley BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fran's memory may be made to the Sharon United Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of your choice.
