Gordon Alexander "Bud"
August 5, 1934 ~ February 21, 2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon "Bud" Smith on February 21st in Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Loved ones were at his side. Bud will be greatly missed by his children, Wendy, Kerry (Gord) Petursson, Gord (Bridget), and Nancy, their mother Freda Smith, grand- children Jennifer, Jessica, Melissa, Lindsey, Kevin, Brandon, and Spencer, and great grandson Noah, along with sisters Marge Foster and Betty (Tom) Campbell and sister-in-law Mary Smith, also best friends Larry and Harlene Grant. Bud was predeceased in 1999 by his brother, Lloyd, and in 2005 by Alma, his wife of several years. He will be fondly remembered by Alma's children Randy, Bobby, Eddy, and Felicia and their families. Bud grew up in Langley, BC, where he raised his four children. He loved fishing and spent many weekend hours at the Derby Reach in Fort Langley. Drinking coffee and telling jokes with friends were other favourite leisure activities, and he couldn't resist a good garage sale. Bud's retirement years were spent with Alma in Olalla where they enjoyed, among other things, fishing, camping, and exploring country roads. Bud always liked the drier interior weather and was happy, as he said, to be out of the "swamp" at the coast. A memorial service to celebrate Bud's life will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home in Langley at 10 a.m. on March 3rd. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
