PETERS-BETSCH,

Herta Louise, nee Gossen

Oct 10, 1932 - Mar 28, 2009

Herta left a wonderful legacy of her two sons, Brian (Linda) and Wayne (Hannah), grandchildren Patrick (Cheryl), Lee, Shannon, Erik and Natalie and great-grandchild Bailey, sister Viola, brother Len, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Herta was pre-deceased by her loving husband Manfred Betsch and sister Elvira. Herta worked in her early years as one the first White Spot car-hops. She went on to work as a book binder and continued her career working at the Georgia Hotel and then managed a downtown restaurant. She waitressed at, and then managed the Heidi Restaurant in Surrey, moving on in 1978 to own her greatest delight, The Prairie Haus in Langley City. After a kidney transplant in 1989, Herta retired but never stopped cooking and baking for her family and friends. This was her passion and when times were toughest she went to her kitchen. The family wishes to thank all the marvelous staff at St. Paul's on 5A and CCU these past 9 weeks, and the VGH cancer/transplant clinics for the care given her over the years. Our sincerest thanks go to Dr. Marla Kiess for always being there 24/7/365 for her Auntie Herta. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on April 6 at Peace Mennonite Church (11575 Daniels Road, Richmond) with reception at the church following the service. Donations may be made to the St. Paul's Heart Centre or the Kidney Foundation.
