God's Greatest Gift returned to God ~ Our mother.

Joy Hackett

January 26, 1934 – February 11, 2009

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Joy who left our presence on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Joy was born, Helen Joyce Hughes, in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from Western Pentecostal Bible College, where she met and married Peter Joseph Hackett. After a few adventures that took them to the United States, she settled in North Delta, B.C. where she would end up heroically raising her children alone. She has unselfishly loved and served both the Lord and her family her whole life, showing affection through her gifts of service: sewing, knitting, painting and anything else that needed to be done, including endless babysitting of all her grandchildren. Even in her last days at Langley Lodge, Joy continued to be of service and help to the wonderful staff and nurses as she followed them on their daily rounds.

She will be lovingly missed and constantly remembered by her sons, Joe (Kathleen) children Amy, Connie & Tori; David (Lisa) children Adam, Danielle, Jesse, Michael & Noah; Donny (Roxana) children Angela, Harrison & Sofia; daughter Lori Bersaglio children Tia & Mia; sisters Margaret Hughes & Lynn Patterson; brother-in-law Dick Wood and many great nieces and nephews.

Until we are united again, we will miss you Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Salvation Army. Memorial service to be held at 2pm Monday, February 16 at Christian Life Assemblies in Langley.

Grace was in all her steps, heaven in her eye, in every gesture dignity and love.
