June 11, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kay Douglas on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Kay is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Linda (Simon), and granddaughter Madeline; son Keith (Michelle), and grandchildren Sarah and Kyle.
Kay was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Keith and Roberta (Bobbi) Carscadden. She learned to skate almost as soon as she could walk, and went on to become an accomplished figure skater. Like her sister Anne and brother Robert, Kay went into the medical profession, training as a nurse. She married Bob, the love of her life, in 1964.
Kay and Bob loved travelling, and over the years they explored the world, including moving the family to New Zealand for two years. They never lost their love of adventure, and once they retired, Gran and Grampa spent much of the year travelling by RV, visiting family.
Kay was a very kind lady who loved her family with all her heart. She also loved to paint and would sit for hours working on pictures of all her favourite places she had visited. She had an 'impish' sense of humour, and could never finish telling a joke because of laughing so hard.
She will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
In accordance with Kay's wishes, there will not be a service. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or the BC SPCA.
