June 15, 2020
It is with the utmost gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul on June 15, 2020. He was predeceased by parents Howard and Margaret Hendershot. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Linda, siblings Kathleen (Jacques) Hilary (Malcolm), and Bill (Suzanne). He will be missed by son Aaron (Heike), granddaughter Lotte, daughter Megan (Matt), grandson Fletcher, and cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul was born in Southern Ontario in 1947. A talented athlete, Paul received consecutive All-City Athlete of the Year Awards for football in high school and was voted MVP in his final year playing for the Waterloo Lutheran University Golden Hawks. A CFL draft brought Paul to Edmonton, where he met Linda. They moved to the Lower Mainland in the 70's, where Paul played for the Vancouver Kats Rugby Club.
In 1980, Paul founded an industrial sweeping business. Hard work, integrity, and long hours contributed to his success until he retired in 2019. Paul was a content soul who danced to his own tune. He was creative, evidenced by his unique backyard pond, rooftop deck, and many other labours of love. Paul loved his kids and was so proud of them.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to health care professionals who cared for Paul. In lieu of flowers, Paul would have liked you to get out and enjoy nature; we encourage you to do so in fond memory of him. Donations can be made in his honour to Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
