Robert "Bob" Chappell, 76, of Langley British Columbia, passed away peacefully Monday, May 14, 2018.
Bob was born on January 8, 1942 at Grace Hospital in Vancouver BC to Roy Carmen Chappell and Phyllis Daisy (Howarth) Chappell. He graduated from Vancouver Tech in 1960. On June 23, 1962 he married the former Dolores "Lora" Carol Schneider in Coeur d'Alene Idaho.
Bob was employed from the day after he graduated 'til the day he retired with the Vancouver School Board. He enjoyed both his place of employment and his work as a gentleman farmer in Langley for decades. Bob was an avid lover of animals and an incredible gardener. His retirement was mostly spent on a farm in the Keremeos Valley in the hamlet of Cawston. There he spent endless hours taking care of his cows and reading his blessed Harlequin Romance novels. Bob and Lora returned to Langley in 2011.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, his two sons, Robert Chappell and his wife Laurie Reid of Langley, Steven Chappell and his wife Cheryl Anne Chappell of Surrey, his daughter Karen Chappell and her husband Donald Tebbutt of Langley, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his sister Glenna Cook, his brother Thomas Chappell and his mother in law Pauline Schneider.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Phyllis, his brother Ken, his father-in-law Wendel and his sister-in-law Sharlene.
A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 19 from 12:00 until 3:00 PM at Poppy Estates Golf Course in Langley located 3834 248th St. All welcome.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Langley Lodge or Alzheimer Society of BC.
