BROOKES, Roderick William - Major Canadian Forces, Ret. - Rod Brookes of Russell, Ontario (formerly of Langley), passed away at the age of 61 on November 1, 2006. Grieved by his wife Deron (Bacon); son Stuart (Ann Hamilton) of Kamloops; daughters Megan (Andrew Bols) of Winchester, Ontario; Allison (Kurt Russell) of Russell, Ontario and grandson Bryce Bols. Son of the late William and May Brookes of Langley and brother of Joan (Walter Perry) of Langley and son-in-law of Beryl (late Donald Bacon) of Kamloops. Uncle of Jillian and Melissa Perry. Rod attended schools in Langley and graduated from Langley High School in 1962. He was a graduate of Royal Roads Military College, Kingston Military College, University of BC and Concordia University in Montreal and was a life member of the Russell Lion's Club. Rod retired in 1993 from the Canadian Forces after thirty years of service. A memorial service in memory of Rod was held on November 7, 2006 at St. Mary's Angelican Church in Russell, Ontario.
