Vancouver, BC; and James (Karen), Combermere, ON; 14 grandchildren: Matt, Erin, Damien, Christa, Bryan, Beth, Sean, Brandon, Katie, Jamie, Jimmy, John, Isobel, Joseph; great-grandchild Tristan. Brother Bill Smith (Marlene), sisters Beverley (GerryFreamo), Carmel (late Douglas Bigelow), Ann (Jim Sullivan), Dolly (Grant Moyse); sisters-in-law Theresa McMillan, Theresa Small; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Peter in 1993, mother Verlie, father Dan, and brother Lee. Most important in Rosemary's was her faith in God, which gave her happiness and hope in life despite suffering from cancer in the past year. She drew particular strength from being a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. Rosemary was born in Buckingham, PQ, and moved to BC in 1950, where she married Peter and raised six children. In 1998 she returned to the east with James and Karen to live in Combermere, ON. Rosemary was active in various organizations, including the Catholic Women's League, Legion of Mary, Canadian Food for Children and Hospice care, and she supported numerous charities. She was a couragous defender of the right to life of unborn children and promoted care for women experiencing problem pregnancies. Mom loved the water: the Lievre River where she grew up, the Pacific Ocean, and living beside the Madawaska River in Combermere. She loved scenery and nature, reading, walking and her family. We will miss our dear Mother so much. In lieu of flowers, at Rosemary's request please consider donating to a Pro Life organization. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Parish, Langley, BC, on Thursday March 22, 7:30 pm; reception following.
