LESTER, SHEILA MAY

Feb. 18, 1931 to May 25, 2010

Sheila passed away on May 25 with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor, brother Roy and son David. She leaves two sons, Gordon (Mary), Steven (Heidi) her daughter, Karen (Jock) Cameron, nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Sheila moved to Vancouver from Lethbridge in 1940 and married and raised her family there. As her family grew up, Sunday dinners and visits with grandparents and the Reid, Brown, Adams and Lester families were very important.

She was very involved in highland dancing with Karen and loved Scottish music. She enjoyed camping trips to Camp Olave with her Guide unit and trips to Echo Lake near Vernon when the children were young. Sheila enjoyed rowing in her blue rowboat or painting and cleaning around the cabin at Green Lake, and counting satellites around the fire with her grandchildren. She was happiest when she was busy doing yard work, cooking, looking after grandchildren or watching them at sports events, award ceremonies or graduations. She loved to go for a walk or just to sit and chat.

Sheila worked in shipping at Dalkeith for many years and moved to Langley in 1998 to be closer to family. She enjoyed volunteering at the Langley Visitor Information Centre.

In 2006, she was diagnosed with dementia and rapidly progressed through this debilitating disease. In lieu of flowers, we request that you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. A private family service will be held in June.
