Letter: Bike lanes on 56 Avenue are ‘overkill’

Editor: Re: Bike lanes on 56 Avenue: First, a huge thank you to whoever was responsible for cutting back the tall grasses which were blocking sight lines onto and off of accesses to 56 Avenue. You have doubtless saved lives and limbs.

Second: Re: new bike lanes in both eastbound and westbound directions on 56 Avenue. As this is so obviously overkill, it makes no sense to block traffic lanes in both directions.

For the very rare bicycle using these lanes, they could safely share one of the lanes and thus return one badly needed car lane to some semblance of usefulness.

Those most frequently using these bike lanes are not wearing helmets and are towing carts full of stolen goods.

PS. Thanks to past mayor Peter Fassbender for his “legacy” of downtown Langley being inundated with homeless people from near and far who make our streets and parks unsafe for all young and old residents.

How dare Mr. Fassbender even show his face around here again, let alone run as the next mayor of Langley City.

N. Lewis,

Langley
