Editor: Most of the following letter was sent to members of the Langley Township Council and representatives for Langley recreation and culture, but we want to particularly thank you and your colleagues at the Langley Times for your contribution to our experience this summer.

We wish to express the thrill and the gratitude felt in knowing there is now a public space dedicated for performing arts during the summer months at the new Amphitheatre at Willoughby Community Park in the Langley Township.

We’re immensely grateful for having had the chance this summer to see so many, much-admired Langley artists now perform in our own community. Peter Luongo, as MC at the wonderful musical comedy by Lauren Trotzuk and Co. on Aug. 22, said it best — we now have our very own Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS)!

We were also thrilled, as part of the Langley Community Chorus, to perform there for the opening of the amphitheatre on May 25, and once more on July 13 as part of the TOL Canada 150 Summer Concert Series.

Amenities such as the large stage and the sound system generously provided at this venue, made it possible for our group to sustainably and adequately provide these outdoor concerts, free to the public.

Especially, we want to thank the people at the Langley Times for their support each week in advertising the Summer Concert Series.

Not only did those ads prompt us to get out to see other Langley performers, but also brought out several friends and neighbours who had never heard our choir perform before.

It’s been our long-held dream of having this kind of inclusion and recognition for the Langley Community Chorus by our community.

With the 2017 fall season marking the 25th Anniversary of our (now 80-member) mixed choir, what a great way to have started celebrating our Silver Anniversary.

Thanks again for the support and visibility the Langley Township and the Langley Times have given to Langley performing artists.

Chris LaBorde and

Arne Larsen,

Langley
