To mayor, council, staff and all residents of Township of Langley,

[Re: Detached homes on hold, Langley Advance Times, Nov. 30]

I am a Langley Township resident, born and raised so I have invested my life to live in one of the most beautiful and well-loved municipalities in Metro Vancouver.

It is with great shock of the news and without warning from our B.C. premier – presently David Eby of the New Democratic Party (appointed not elected) – to cram as many homes on already built properties and to throw out years of hard work of planning our beautiful neighbourhoods to be built in the future.

Under Eby and the NDP’s plan it would destroy all our work on tree canopy and protection as well. Please think long and hard what the implications are. It is not a housing shortage. It is a affordability issue.

This complete over-reach of government has to be contested. This over cramming of new homes in municipalities without the voice of the people goes against rights and freedom in democracy. Please don’t let one man, one party, destroy our history to build his own, that is completely destroying the one built by the people for the people.
