LETTER: Jersey jabs at Langley City mayor meant to be funny

A Murrayville man wonders why people don’t have a sense of humour about hockey.

Dear Editor,

Penalty box for the Oilers hater… Mr. Dave Lofgren. The letter Mr. Lofgren wrote is either very sneaky satire, throwing a quick little jab at those Canadians who have decided that hockey is their religion, or he, too, has drunk the KoolAid.

Growing up in the ’50s in rural Alberta allowed me to play hockey in a very cold rink all during my childhood and youth years.

I love hockey, but come on… mad because a B.C. mayor is not an Canucks fan. What happened to us very nice Canadians?

Are we still the tolerant ones that our PM brags about?

Maybe hockey is not the new religion. Maybe it has become a cult, and we may one day see Mr. Lofgren standing at SkyTrain stations promoting his brand, and handing out booklets.

Just as a quick side note, has anyone ever heard of the snowflake generation who get offended by anyone who hurts their feelings?

Dave Larson, Murrayville
