Dear Editor,

A few days ago, I held our new granddaughter, a beautiful little bundle of love.

Without the dedication and skill of the surgeons, doctors, nurses, techs, and support staff at Langley Memorial Hospital, I would never have had the joy.

In April 2023, I faced three surgeries in three days. My wife was told to call the family, because the outcome was uncertain. Thankfully, the medical professionals saved my life.

My 16 days in the hospital were frightening and challenging; however, the entire medical team was beyond amazing. I received exceptional professional care and more; I was treated with empathy, understanding, patience, and kindness.

I would love to share all the names of the people who made a difference, but I would surely miss some and others I never knew by name.

I am indebted to each one.

Our medical system faces challenges; however, I say with conviction that the people working in the system are not the problem. They are, from first to last, the best our society offers.

My family, my new granddaughter, and I are forever grateful.

Ted Boodle, Langley City
