A City resident took issue with a letter about the mayor’s choice of jersey at a hockey event.

Dear Editor,

I am writing in regards to a letter published in Thursday’s paper [Jersey warrants penalty box, Langley Advance, Jan. 17, 2019].

I am appalled that you even published this letter! Who gave Dave any right to say which team Val has to root for!

She should not be put down and berated in such a way just because she donned her favourite hockey jersey.

Last time I checked it was “Rogers Hometown Hockey tour” not Hometown Canucks tour!

She was so excited to be a part of such a fabulous event that came to the town she is now proudly the mayor of.

It only makes sense that she was thinking about showing her hockey spirit as it is something near a dear to her heart and was a big part of her life growing up (as an article in last week’s paper fully talked about! If Dave had read that!)

How dare him to say such horrible things regarding her choice of outfit. Such as “clown suit” and “should be worn in the dark with the blinds closed.”

I mean seriously we are not all Canuck fans. Shocking I know… But true. We all for some reason or another like who we want to like and that’s OK! Get over yourself, Dave. And shame on you, editor, for even sharing his opinion with the city.

As for Val, you go girl! You be proud to be a fan of whomever you choose and when the time comes again stand as proud as you did this weekend.

You looked great and your hockey spirit was in true form.

Thank you for your time

Amanda Pack, Langley City
