George Garrett and other local volunteers are organizing a non-profit that gives free rides to cancer patients.

Dear Editor,

I  wish to thank the dozens of men and women who volunteer their time to drive cancer patients to hospital appointments.

This is almost an essential service due to the ever-rising cost of transportation.

These wonderful drivers are out in rain sleet and snow from early morning to dusk in heavy traffic.

Our patients are often elderly, very sick, and living alone.

The drivers provide a safe comfortable  and friendly journey for them.

Many thanks again to all of you.

By the way, these rides are free to cancer patients and are one hundred per cent dependent upon donations.

Madeleine Young,

Driver Coordinator, Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society
