Odd Thoughts: Tiny hands fan racist flames

The BeeGees knew something about Americans that others missed right up until Nov. 8 this year.

The Australian disco brothers foretold the recent election results in their 1968 song:

“I started a joke which started the whole world crying,

“But I didn’t see that the joke was on me...”

The demonstrations and protests reflect half of America’s realization that their country just produced a blockbuster cover version of Britain’s Brexit:

“I started to cry, which started the whole world laughing...”

Perhaps America’s racists didn’t elect a champion to take them back to their glory days of slavery, or at least second-class citizenship for blacks.

Not on their own.

They had help from America’s xenophobes, misogynists, and scared little white men who need to blame someone else for their own shortcomings.

And let’s not gloss over the possibility that president-elect The Donald is not a racist himself, and it was only to get elected that he pandered to those who got hot under the collar when they had to look at a black man’s face every time they turned on the TV for a presidential statement, and hotter under the collar when it turned out that that black man was doing a pretty darned good job.

And now they darned sure weren’t going to let a woman talk to them in that tone of voice.

The Donald might not be a racist. But he fueled racism with campaign statements and slogans that sounded awfully racist. He accepted without question endorsements from openly racist groups. And as of this writing, he has yet to make any definitive statement condemning the racism that has been welling up since Election Day. On the contrary, he has been seriously considering placing his openly racist helpers in positions of power.

He may not be a misogynist. He did say “no one has more respect for women.”

But those have only been words. And as he pointed out when that disgusting recording surfaced which would have ended his presidential hopes in any decent country, words don’t mean much to him.

Those who are offended by open disdain for that smarmy, small-minded, bigoted, male-chauvenist pig had best beware: here we only accept people wearing white sheets on Halloween, Brownshirts are always a poor fashion choice, and in the presence of ladies, keep your tiny hands to yourself.
