The Langley Blaze bats were on fire this weekend as they scored 29 runs to win three of four games.
The Blaze were hosting the Okanagan Athletics on Saturday and Sunday at McLeod Athletic Park, splitting Saturday’s contests with a 7-1 win and a 3-0 loss. Sunday’s games were both in favour of the Blaze, 12-2 and 10-7.
The wins improved the team to 10-5 in BC Premier Baseball League action.
Langley gave up the first run on Saturday in the top of the first inning but struck back with three runs in the third and four more in the fourth.
Kyle Prather allowed just three hits over the seven innings while striking out four for the win.
Offensively, Rhys Cratty and Michael Stovman drove in a pair of runs apiece while Danny Berg and Jake Kristensen had one RBI each.
The Blaze bats were cold in game two, managing just three hits.
The A’s scored twice in the first and once more in the second for all the offence they would need as Carter Morris allowed just three base runners.
Kyle Gee took the loss for Langley.
Sunday’s game one was tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning before Langley scored six times and tacked on another four runs in the fifth for the 12-2 final.
Daniel Martin fueled the offence with a bases-loaded triple as part of a five-RBI game.
Mac Berry added a two-run double and Dawson Gray had a pair of RBI singles.
Michael Stovman, coming off a 14-strikeout performance in his last start on May 2, allowed just four hits and two unearned runs while striking out another seven batters.
Stovman then had a monster game at the plate to cap off the doubleheader, driving in half the Blaze’s runs with a 10-7 win.
He finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs while Cratty had two RBIs.
Cole Cantelon, Jake Kristensen and Martin each brought home one run.
Martin had five hits and eight RBIs in the two games on Sunday.

Colby Ring earned the victory, allowing three runs over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
The Blaze are back in action on May 9 as they face the North Delta Blue Jays at Mackie Park.
