Blaze use big innings to ground Cardinals

A pair of big innings helped the Langley Blaze knock off the Abbotsford Cardinals.

The Blaze scored five times in the bottom of the first inning and after the Cardinals cut the score to 5-2, Langley tacked on another four runs in the fourth to win 9-3.

The B.C. Premier Baseball League game was played on Tuesday night at McLeod Park.

Rhys Cratty, Austin Hardie and Jesse Unger each drove in a pair of runs while Daniel Berg and Dawson Gray had one RBI apiece.

On the mound, Jake Polancic struck out 10 in the complete game victory.

The win improved Langley to 13-8.

The Blaze are back in action when they host the Victoria Mariners on Saturday at McLeod Park. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
