Cheung set to compete at Canada Summer Games

Meghan Cheung will suit up for Team BC at the upcoming 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

Cheung is set to compete in women’s kayak following her selection to the team.

She earned her spot on the women’s kayak team based on her performance at a trial in Kamloops over the weekend (May 27).

Cheung, who is from the Fort Langley Canoe and Kayak Club. And while she made the final squad, two of her club teammates have been listed as alternates for the Games.

Lauryn Cheung is an alternate for the women’s kayak team while Liam Stewart and Quinn Thomson are alternates in men’s canoe.

Thomson, who is from Langley, paddles for the False Creek Sprint Canoe Club.

The Games run July 28 to Aug. 13 with the paddling events set for Aug. 7 to 10.
