The Langley Blaze struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh and final inning to edge the North Shore Twins 6-5.
Jeremy Filipek drove in three runs, while Jerod Bartnik went 4-for-4 and scored three times in the victory on Tuesday night in B.C. Premier U18 Baseball League action at McLeod Athletic Park.
Justin Geerts picked up the win, throwing two solid innings in relief.
The victory, Langley’s seventh in their last eight games, improved the team to 11-3, a half-game behind the 9-2 Nanaimo Pirates for first place in the league.
The team also split a doubleheader on Sunday in Whalley against the Fraser Valley Chiefs (7-3).
Bartnik drove in a pair in a 4-1win in the opener, while pitcher Tom Robson was masterful in a 1-0 loss in game two.
Robson struck out 10 and allowed just one hit and one walk.
Unfortunately, the Blaze offence was no-hit by the Chiefs’ Ty Walker.
Langley has a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. against the Victoria Mariners (9-3).
