The Trinity Western Spartans used a record-breaking fourth quarter to rally from a 19-point deficit to earn their first win of the season.
The Spartans men's basketball team trailed the host Northern BC Timberwolves 71-52 with just over eight minutes remaining on Saturday night in Prince George.
But Trinity Western responded with a 35-16 run to close regulation and then outscored the T-Wolves 16-13 in overtime to win 103-100.
The 36 fourth-quarter points is a new team record.
The teams also played the night before with UNBC winning 109-87.
The Spartans improved to 1-3.
"The character that we showed today to come back will help the guys to believe as we move forward," said coach Scott Allen.
"Our defensive pressure in the fourth quarter and our ability to put the ball inside and hit our three point shots really helped us tonight."
Six Spartans players combined to score 100 of the team's 103 points with Mark Perrin and Kurtis Osborne leading the way with 19 points apiece.
Off the bench, Denny McDonald added 18 and Justin Bakuteka chipped in with 17 points.
Both teams shot well with the Spartans hitting 47.3 per cent of their shots and the Timberwolves connecting on 45.9 per cent.
In Friday's defeat, Trinity Western was not able to overcome a poor first 10 minutes which saw the team trailing 36-14. For the other three quarters, the teams' matched each other point-for-point.
UNBC shot an outstanding 61 per cent from the field and nearly 62 per cent from the three point line.
Perrin led the Spartans with 17 points and six rebounds while Tyler Linttell came off the bench to score 16 points and grab nine rebounds.
Trinity Western hits the road for a pair of games this weekend in Victoria against the Vikes.
